task 6: Narrative and Genre

The objective of this task was to use the narrative to display the genre of the genre of film which is being used. using techniques such as camera angles and dialogue. I paired up with Isabella Francis and Cynthia Ankunda, we developed an idea to conclude our first two horror films with detailed narrative inform of a drama- thriller. the narrative involved a friend of all three main character going missing and two of their friends got killed, to wrap the story up the main characters find out who the real killer is.

Before we started filming, we had to print off props we would these included posters of Meron, the missing girl, Pictures of the fellow friends who died.

The film opened with a fast pace of the college which tied into the three main characters staring at a missing poster and talking about how much they missed their friend, the scene was a middle shot of  three main characters but it would have worked better if we got a close up of each of character while they were speaking.
The following scene was of the main characters with their friends at a table. the camera was in a fixed point where there are no close up, the table full of friends were soon having a heated conversation but because of the way the camera was positioned, it would have worked better if we got close up of each face.

The scene that followed was the murder. this scene was well planned out, the way the camera was positioned it seemed like the shot was a point of view of the killer. When the killer is nearing the victim, is clear that the murderer is someone he knows, but that remains unknown to the audience, the camera pans upwards towards the sky and a gun is heard, making it very clear to the audiences someone has been killed.

The next scene fades in with an argument between between a couple, Cynthia one of the main character and her boyfriend Hari, Cynthia was mad about the disappearance of her friend and Hari being the supportive boyfriend tries to calm her down but it didn't work. the camera angel we used include an over the shoulder shot to show the both views of the characters. a mid shot was used to show how heated their conversation was. Close after the argument with Cynthia, Hari was sitting by himself, thinking when he came into the point of view shot of the killer that he clearly knows. the camera pans up and the sound of a stab and a scream is heard, we see a black bird flyaway in the sky, which adds to the mood and meaning of the film.

The three main characters from the beginning are once again seen standing side by side, the camera goes from left and right, close up on the characters facial expressions. The scene fades after the girls start going their own way, which worked very well. The final scene was of the discovery the killers, Bella overhears Sabrina talking to her accomplice over the phone. what was very effective about this scene was the dialogue between Sabrina and Bella, to find out the killer is one of her closes friends was hard on Bella but she unmasked the killer and we find out who the antagonist of  the story is. what was ineffective about this scene however was the camera shot, it have worked better if we got close up of the argument between Bella and Sabrina (myself)
